Ross Bridge New Construction

We have some clients who are having a new home built in the Ross Bridge Commuity of Hoover, Alabama. Every so often I like to drive by there, take a picture with my iPhone, and email it to them so they can see the progress of the build. It had been about a week longer than I wanted to wait, but I did manage to get out there this week, and below is what I saw.

It’s so exciting to see such progress being made in Ross Bridge!

Trisha Crain Photography

OK, this is not my picture, but it is the ad for a photographer here in town that I HIGHLY recommend. She is Trisha Crain.

We, as a family, have already used her twice, and we have plans to use her again this year. She is very good!

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts – Birmingham, Alabama

Krispy Kreme Hoover Alabama

Of all the things in life that are good and pure… Krispy Kreme doughnuts ranks high on the list. With this in mind, you see why I thought that a spotlight on Krispy Kreme: Birmingham was a worthwhile photo-post.

Krispy Kreme has three locations here in the Birmingham area (click on the location for a map to get directions):

  1. Eastlake: 8601 First Avenue North
  2. Bessemer: 96 Weibel Drive
  3. Hoover: 1990 New Patton Chapel Road (pictured above)

Eagle Point Golf Club – Birmingham Alabama

I was out at Eagle Point Golf Club the other day for the first time. No, I was not playing golf. (If you knew me you would know why.) I was out taking some pictures for some friends and family, and thought I should share one of the views I saw there with you. It’s an absolute beautiful course,  is easy to get to, and the rates didn’t seem to bad either. If you’re looking for another place to place some golf, I would definitely give them a try.

Hamburger Heaven – Birmingham Alabama

Hamburger Heaven has got to be one of those places in Alabama you need to go for a burger. It’s been around here for 25+ years and has a great history and tradition, as it was voted the #1 Hambuger by USA Today in 1992. This is a picture of the original location in Irondale, Alabama. Over the past 11 years, they have open 3 more and currently have four locations in the area. The newest three are Highway 280, Gardendale, and Homewood. Make sure you check out the Hamburger Heaven menu and go try one today.

Hoover Alabama – Trace Crossings Elementary School

School started this week (last week?) for many of the school in and around Birmingham Alabama, so I thought I would do a series for the next week.

Back To School!

For a lot of students this is an exciting, for some not so exciting, and a lot of parents are feeling both ways too! So, today, let’s join Trace Crossings Elementary, one of the Hoover City Schools, in welcoming some of you (if you live in Hoover Alabama) back to school.

Have a great year!

Birmingham AL – One Prayer – Church of the Highlands

Saturday, July 26, 2008, Church of the Highlands (which is where we go to church) is participating in a massive undertaking (One Prayer) with hundreds of other groups (from our church) and more than 1,600 other churches around the world to make an impact in our world. Saturday, July 26, 2008, will be the day that you may see thousands of blue shirts (thats the uniform) serving in different ways around Birmingham Alabama. Another part of the focus was to help plant more than 500 churches around the world. A video list of the churches has also been made. Remember us in your thoughts this weekend as we seek to model the example set before us and bring honor to our Lord.

Birmingham AL – The Fish Market

My father in law and I were talking last night about where we thought the best place to get seafood in Birmingham was, and we both agreed that you could never go wrong with The Fish Market Restaurant. Whether you are going there to eat, getting it to go, or buying it fresh to take home and do yourself we just can’t find any reason why not to go there. Check out the the online menu! Let me add that doesn’t matter where you live in the Birmingham area, it’s worth the trip. There are three locations here in town that you can easily get to, Downtown Birmingham (my favorite!), Highway 31 in Hoover, or Highway 280 in Hoover (Shelby County). I linked to directions to each of them above. On the website George Sarris, the owner says, “I grew up hearing “kali orexi.” And so I say to you, “Welcome, Bring your healthy appetite.”" I couldn’t agree more!

Hoover AL – Aldridge Botanical Gardens

Located on Lorna Road in Hoover Alabama lies Aldridge Botanical Gardens. Alridge Gardens began in 1977 and was opened to the public in the mid 1990′s. We recently took our kids there to have thier pictures taken and were wowed by how beautiful this 30+ acre garden site is with it’s trail, lake, and lush plantings. I often think that Alridge Gardens is a too well kept secret, even to those who live in Hoover Alabama. I would urge anyone who appreciate natures’ beauty to stop by for a visit.

You can get directions to Aldridge Gardens right here.
