I was at Emmet O’Neal Library in Mountain Brook ‘s Crestline area the other day and was amazed at what people are doing to try to get in there and check out a book!
So you won’t have to go to these extreme measures too, HERE are their hours.

OK, this is not my picture, but it is the ad for a photographer here in town that I HIGHLY recommend. She is Trisha Crain.
We, as a family, have already used her twice, and we have plans to use her again this year. She is very good!

School started this week (last week for some) for many of the school in and around Birmingham Alabama, so I thought I would do a series for the next week.
Back To School!
For a lot of students this is an exciting, for some not so exciting, and a lot of parents are feeling both ways too! So, today, let’s join Crestline Elementary School, one of the Mountain Brook City Schools, in welcoming some of you (if you call Mountain Brook home) back to school.
Have a great year!
Saturday, July 26, 2008, Church of the Highlands (which is where we go to church) is participating in a massive undertaking (One Prayer) with hundreds of other groups (from our church) and more than 1,600 other churches around the world to make an impact in our world. Saturday, July 26, 2008, will be the day that you may see thousands of blue shirts (thats the uniform) serving in different ways around Birmingham Alabama. Another part of the focus was to help plant more than 500 churches around the world. A video list of the churches has also been made. Remember us in your thoughts this weekend as we seek to model the example set before us and bring honor to our Lord.

Now, why a grocery store in Mountain Brook? Other than the fact that it is something else I see in Birmingham Alabama, it is here as a reminder. When your spouse asks you to bring some stuff from the store always get a list! This is why I ended up here at the Piggly Wiggly in Mountain Brook (next to Liberty Park).
While you can get to this Piggly Wiggly using the link above, you can see all ten Piggly Wiggly’s in the Birmingham area here and get directions to them too. Basically, whether you live in Mountain Brook or call anywhere else in Birmingham Alabama home, you can find and shop at “The Pig”
I saw this the other day and, if you know what this is, you may be surprised that I actually used it (especially if you know me!) I showed this to someone and they asked me what it was. It got me thinking…
DO YOU KNOW WHAT IT IS?
I will give you a clue. I saw it in Mountain Brook, but you don’t have to live in Mountain Brook Alabama to see one. My guess is that you could find one just about anywhere in Alabama or any other state, city, country… I think you get it.
So, what do you think? Put you guesses in the comments and let’s see how long it takes someone to figure it out!
While I know today is not Veterans Day, it is about what they all fought for. They all fought for freedom. That’s why the Fourth of July is called Independence Day. With this in mind I wanted to spend some time myself at the Alabama Veterans Memorial. I don’t want to ever forget that our freedom wasn’t free. It seems like a lot of people here in Birmingham probably have not made the time to visit, even those who live in Mountain Brook where it is located right behind their high school. I for one am so thankful to live where I do. For directions to the Alabama Veterans Memorial check here.
“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
~The Pledge of Allegiance
Summer is getting HOT! I was thinking of something I could do indoors and my kids love to read. Emmet O’Neal Library is probably where we go the most which is located in the Crestline Village area of Mountain Brook. It is centrally located so that all who call Mountain Brook home as well as those who live in the surrounding communities can all easily get there. Plan on making a visit? You can get directions from the Emmet O’Neal Library site or Google Maps.
I was driving through Mountain Brook and caught sight of this group of amazing kids doing something that we just don’t see enough of these days. Now, the lemonade stand isn’t the different thing, it’s the fact that they weren’t doing it for themselves. They were helping raise money for MS research and development. It’s a special project called “The Stand Against MS.” This is admirable!
So if you happen to live in Mountain Brook and see these guys make sure to stop, pick up some cookies and lemonade. It’s for cause. If you don’t live in the Mountain Brook, Alabama area, you can still give to the cause, bu clicking here at Donate to MS.
