Built in 1927 by Paramount Studios, the Alabama Theatre has become a true Birmingham landmark and destination. Still open today, the Alabama Theatre features programs and shows throughout the year.

Obviously, Babe’s Hot Dogs has been out of business for quite a while. Like I have mentioned before. I really like the old painted signs and ads on the sides of “older” buildings downtown. I bet they served a mean dog back in the day.
Let me note, again, that this (nor the next few pictures I may post) do not “represent” downtown Birmingham Alabama as a whole. There are a lot of revitalization efforts going on down there (lofts, entertainment, restaurants, urban work spaces) which will hopefully continue to improve the downtown area.

Powell School was named after the very first mayor of Birmingham, Alabama. He believed so strongly in education and that Birmingham children should go to school that he donated his salary as mayor to the cause.

I was downtown this week at Shift Workspace and had to park out back. On my way out through the alley I noticed this wall. Immediately I was struck by the colors on this wall and how they contrasted so well together.

I realized today that this black and white series has gone on for long enough so this will be the last one of the series… and that’s no bull. (tee hee)

I was out showing houses the other week and ended up in some rural areas on the outskirts of Birmingham. Something about being out in the country seems nostalgic to me, and since I always bring my camera with me, I took some pictures and wanted to share them with you.
I really liked the way these branches looked in the sky. They almost seemed vein like, and then I thought to myself they really are…

I should probably be ashamed of myself for this picture, but it was there, in the house! Actually scared one of the ladies I was with. (No, they aren’t alive… anymore)

This was another one of those shots I took from the side of the road on the way to the home. One of the things I like about rural areas are these little ponds of water, usually somewhat stocked with fish, waiting to be enjoyed on a relaxing afternoon.

I should probably know what kinds of flowers/weeds these are, but I don’t. Nonetheless they seem to be everywhere they can and for that kind of hardwork, I can at least give them a picture.
